Review the attached ODB New Model which provides an overview of the changes effective on September 1
Changes to the Welcome Home Pallet program are being finalized. A big THANK YOU! to Donna Gardner and Sherry Eason who volunteered to co-lead the Welcome Home Pallet project in 2026. They cannot do it alone and will be looking for volunteers to help them. The proposed plan will make a more streamlined process. More information will be forthcoming. At this time, following was discussed:
The storage unit would be emptied later in September and all items would be
moved to a new designated Welcome Home Pallet area at ODB
Community Outreach volunteers would:
* continue to gather items at Robson Ranch and deliver them periodically to ODB
* keep the Welcome Home Pallet area organized
*help the guests pick out items that they can choose and complete the pallets with the remaining items.
*Review the attached Upcoming Charity Events.
Carolyn Kelley has volunteered to collect sample toiletries (hair/skin care and makeup) and spare makeup bags for Denton County Friends of the Family. through September 30 for women who have fled with little more than the clothes on their backs.
Handbags for Healing benefit for Denton County Friends of the Family on Saturday, September 13
Denton Community Food Center participated for the first time in North Texas Giving Day in 2024.
The 2025 North Texas Giving Day is September 18, 2025.
Children's Advocacy Center of North Texas premier fundraising event is Saturday, September 20 at OMNI PGA Frisco Resort.
No Community Outreach meeting in September.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, October 13 at 10am in the Clubhouse.

- Attend a tour of Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas at 1815 Cain Drive, Lewisville TX on Thursday, August 14 at 1pm. If you did not previously sign up and would like to join us, please email Suzanne Spisak by August 7. We will send a reminder email to all who signed up prior to August 14 with the address and info about carpooling to the location.
- Donate the following items for the Welcome Home Pallets for ODB.
- Please drop off items at Shari Patrick's home at 8620 Basanite Ave.
- Please call her at 214-797-6136 to let her know you will be dropping off items.
- Bathroom - Toilet paper, shower curtains, toilet brushes, towels
- Bedroom - Comforters, pillows, sheets, mattress pads
- Kitchen - Measuring cups/ spoons, flatware, baking pans, mixing bowls, toasters, coffee pots, can openers, plates
- Other - Trash cans, laundry baskets
- Participate in August in a duffle bag clothing donation drive for DCFOF. We provide clothing that the Survivor Advocacy team gives to victims of sexual assault or domestic violence in hospitals or police stations. Details will be provided in July.
- Attend an Evening of Triumph benefiting DCFOF on Saturday, July 19. See the information below to purchase tickets.
- Join me on Saturday, July 26 at the Handbags for Hope Event for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County. See the information below to purchase tickets. Let me know if you plan to attend.

- Review the attached RRWC Summer Snack Pack Event, a project for Denton Community Food Center. We encourage everyone to participate. The flyer gives the information about where to drop off cash or donations by May 23. THANK YOU to all who attended and signed up to help fill and deliver the bags!
- We are in need of the following items for the Welcome Home Pallets.
- Please drop off items at Lora Maynard home at 9608 Freeport Drive, or Shari Patrick's home at 8620 Basanite Ave.
- Mattress Pads
- Shower curtains and Rings
- Lamps
- Pillows
- We are trying out a Volunteer Buddy system to encourage RRWC members to volunteer at ODB
- in addition to the April 22, Day of Caring.
- The Volunteer Buddy is someone who has volunteered before at ODB and commits to being the "ring leader" for a breakfast, lunch or dinner meal serving shift on a designated day in June, July and August.
- We will encourage up to three RRWC members to sign up to volunteer on a designated shift along with the Volunteer Buddy. Ideally,they ride to ODB together and have social time as well.

- If you are interested in being a Volunteer Buddy or to sign up for a particular shift, please contact Suzanne Spisak with the date and time of your preferred shift.

- Take a look at the CASA Defined document for a recap of what a CASA does.
- Review the attached RRWC Summer Snack Pack Event, a project for Denton Community Food Center. We encourage everyone to shop or donate cash. More to come about the event on May 29.
- We are trying out a Volunteer Buddy system to encourage RRWC members to
- volunteer at ODB in addition to the April 22, Day of Caring.
- The Volunteer Buddy is someone who has volunteered before at ODB and commits to being the "ring leader" for a breakfast, lunch or dinner meal serving shift on a designated day in June, July and August.
- We will encourage up to three RRWC members to sign up to volunteer on a designated shift along with the Volunteer Buddy. Ideally,they ride to ODB together and have social time as well.

- If you are interested in being a Volunteer Buddy or to sign up for a particular shift, please contact Suzanne Spisak with the date and time of your preferred shift.
- Mark your calendars:
- Our next meeting is Monday, April 14 at 10am in the Clubhouse. Journey to Dream staff will join us and do a presentation about what they do and the teens they serve.
- Journey to Dream is offering us a tour of their facility on May 1 at 1pm. More information to come.

- Join us on March 10 at 10am in the Clubhouse for the next Community Outreach meeting. Heather Johnson, Development Director at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County will tell us what CASA does and what it means to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate.
- Look at the attached New Charities Compare and Contrast document as a first step to understanding what our newest charities do.
- Mark your calendar for a Day of Caring at Our Daily Bread (ODB) on April 22, where RRWC members will come together to volunteer throughout the day. Sign up instructions will be provided soon!
- Please see the attached Welcome Home Pallet List for items to donate. Our Daily Bread transitions over 130 people experiencing homelessness each year to permanent housing and RRWC members provide essential household items to them to set up housekeeping. FYI, mattress pads and pillows are always in need.
- ICYMI, attached is our 2025 Charity Activity showing planned and proposed activities for all 6 charities throughout the year.
- Finally, attached is a Journey to Dream Luncheon notice about an upcoming fashion show benefiting Journey to Dream. Go to https://www.journeytodream.com/women-on-purpose to purchase tickets.
