Jen Adame and Beth Potter from Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County talked about the CASA program and what a CASA does. We talked about upcoming events for Our Daily Bread (ODB) and Denton Community Food Center.
Here is the recap and important attachments:
Action Items:
- Take a look at the CASA Defined document for a recap of what a CASA does.
- Review the attached RRWC Summer Snack Pack Event, a project for Denton Community Food Center. We encourage everyone to shop or donate cash. More to come about the event on May 29.
- We are trying out a Volunteer Buddy system to encourage RRWC members to
- volunteer at ODB in addition to the April 22, Day of Caring.
- The Volunteer Buddy is someone who has volunteered before at ODB and commits to being the "ring leader" for a breakfast, lunch or dinner meal serving shift on a designated day in June, July and August.
- We will encourage up to three RRWC members to sign up to volunteer on a designated shift along with the Volunteer Buddy. Ideally, they ride to ODB together and have social time as well.
- Please see the attached ODB Volunteer Buddy Signup sheet
- If you are interested in being a Volunteer Buddy or to sign up for a particular shift, please contact Suzanne Spisak with the date and time of your preferred shift.
- Mark your calendars:
- Our next meeting is Monday, April 14 at 10am in the Clubhouse. Journey to Dream staff will join us and do a presentation about what they do and the teens they serve.
- Journey to Dream is offering us a tour of their facility on May 1 at 1pm. More information to come.
